We let the restaurant know of our celebration and they found us a gorgeous spot inside to dine overlooking the marina/water area and allowed us to bring in our own birthday cake. We had dinner at the Cobalt to celebrate a special birthday.

You’re not charged an extra $2.50! Also delicious!! Just saying…… More Delicious!! And the shrimp linguine comes with buttered, grilled bread.

She wasn’t very impressed!! Another had the shrimp Fra Diavolo which is normally ok BUT remember to ask for “no spice” otherwise it’s inedible! Would be nice if one could ask for “low” spice so there would at least be some zip to the dish instead of NONE! (Yes I know fra diavolo is normally spicy but this is way out of the ballpark spicy! ) Anyway, my point being is that the cobalt prices are grossly high compared with other restaurants in the area! Ex: Blackened Cobia over dirty rice at Zeke’s in the Marina just down the road is $28. Mushy on the inside! He was too kind to send it back! I had the grits with shrimp (good) Another had the slightly overcooked pork tenderloin. Come on Cobalt!!!!! Another had extremely overcooked, over coated fried catfish. Had a very skimpy 5”x3” blackened filet over dry rice with 5 green beans (no sauce). And for 4 spears of tasteless, butter less bread ! A friend ordered the “special”. Extremely disappointed with the increase in prices! The bread alone increased by 50 cents. Went to Cobalt with couples for our last night in OB at the Caribe after almost 3 mos. I tipped well and was polite, but my real review is never returning. Our relationship with Cobalt's is a beautiful thing, in that they obviously don't really need us, and likewise we don't really need them either. I suspect the real problem lies not with the floor staff, but with a management who oversells without concern. This was my first visit to Cobalt's, and hopefully my last.

The service was stressed, apparently due to overbooking and crowded dining areas, giving a feel of being served in Cracker Barrel on Sunday afternoon. There was not a single shrimp dish or platter on the menu for adults. The grouper was dry and overdone, and the seafood stew was overly salty beyond tolerance for several of us.

? As for the food, much seemed to have been prepared by cooks, and not chefs. Cobalt's online menu was intriguing, but upon arrival we learned that they had a scaled-down version only known to those in person (the waiter told us they had posted it on their website, but we already knew that was not true.) Supposedly the management floated the notion they had "notified" all their clientele via Instagram. Our waiter was impatient and somewhat condescending, even after he realized that we could tell that he was untrained on the specifics and details of the entrees. Even with reservations, we had to wait on a table. We had made reservations, only to realize upon arrival that the floors were jammed with tables and people, beyond what the wait staff could manage.
